Stunning vintage late 1960’s overdress is inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt, especially his Tree of Life and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. This dress is fashioned from sheer shimmering irridescent organza in a pale golden cream color. The organza is elaborately embroidered with metallic gold scrolls. The hem of the dress and the sleeve cuffs have heavy embroidery in a geometric design worked in gold, orange, lilac, and turquoise. Floating embroidered appliques adorn the bottom third and hem of the dress and sleeves. The dress closes with tiny hooks and eyes at the back neck and is slit to the hips. This would have been worn over a co-ordinating underdress or slip, but that is gone. Note: My camera did not do a good job of picking up the metallic shimmer of the fabric and embroidery. This dress is truly exquisite! Will fit a Medium – Large, but allow enough ease for the dress to “float” over an underdress.
