Gina Fratini was one of the well known members of the British Boutique Movement, along with contemporary Ossie Clark. Her work is most often sold at major auction houses and can be found in the collections of many major museums. In the later 70’s, Fratini designed for Princesses Anne and Diana.
This incredible late 1960’s dress is fashioned from cotton blend velveteen. The midnight black bodice is accented with a row of self-fabric buttons down the front. The skirt is fashioned from two co-ordinating fabrics in browns, rust orange, black, and white. The main print is of giant Monarch butterfly wings. A geometric print forms an 11” deep band at the hem. Black velvet ribbon forms a belt and bow at the high waist. The dress closes with a center back metal zipper and is completely lined in black taffeta. Made in England.
